30 DAY SHRED!

Okay soooo I’ve obviously been kind of upset with my results recently - I had been working my ass off and eating right and not seeing any results whatsoever and it’s extremely frustrating!

This time, instead of giving up (as I usually do when I don’t see results because I think “whats the point?”) I’m deciding to do things differently. After all, if you want something you’ve never had, you’ve got to do what you’ve never done before… right?

With that being said, I’ve decided to take my workouts to the next level. I’m thinking that maybe my body has gotten used to the same typical cardio/weights routine that I’ve been doing my whole life and therefore, am switching it up..

Yesterday, I started Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred. As someone who’s in pretty good shape, it IS a good workout - it does burn! However, I’m kind of skeptical - after working my ass off for at least an hour in the gym every day, how can a 20 minute video transform my body when busting my ass can’t? .. I have seen some amazing results from the video, however, so I figured I might as well give it a try! I love how Jillian mixes up cardio/weight training and when she does weight training she works more than one muscle group at a time, which is different than how I’ve always done it.

On top of that, I’m going to continue to do cardio as much as possible (at least 30 minutes 3 times a week) sooo we’ll see how this goes! I have 33 days left until I study abroad and thats the perfect amount of time to complete the 30DS.

Side(ish) note: has anyone ever done 30DS? What did you think?! Also, how did you do it? Did you do it straight through for 30 days without any rest days? Did you take rest days and therefore complete it in more than 30 days? Did only do 30DS only a few times a week/did another workout the other days? Did you workout on top of it?

I’ve been looking around for specific “rules” for it and haven’t been successful at that. So as of right now I’m just gonna try to do it 30 days through with additional cardio on some days (however I’m going skiing with friends this weekend and know that there will be one day where I’m skiing and not able to do the workout, but at least i’ll still be doing something active! lol)

SO yeah, there ya have it. As I said if you have any experience with it please let me know! I’d love to hear :)

So conflicted :(

I really don’t understand why I bother….. I’ve been busting my ass in the gym and eating right since late December (about 2/3 weeks now). Within that time, I only drank alcohol 2 or 3 times (whereas I used to do it 2/3 times a week). Yesterday I ran 3 miles in 35 minutes (a new record for me) and ate toast, grapes, vegetable chips, a salad, and a 100 calorie pudding. Thinking I’d be happy with my results, I weighed myself this morning and GAINED 2 POUNDS. My measurements didn’t really change either. Like what the hell. Why do I bother? Why do I bust my ass for nothing? I might as well lay in bed and go on tumblr all day like I used to… at least I surprisingly don’t GAIN weight from doing that, I just stay the same….. This bullshit happens every time. I can’t seem to move past this weight. I really don’t know what more I can do.

Measurements.

Neck: 14.0 inches

Waist: 32.0 inches

Hips: 42.0 inches

Mid-Upper Arm: 13.5 inches

Mid-Thigh: 23.0 inches

Bust: 39.5 inches

Calf: 16.5 inches

Lower Stomach/Love Handles: 36.5 inches

Weight: 161.6

Literally all of these are the same as the last time I did them, here. Which was May 16th 2011, lollll I mean I’m obviously not happy that they stayed the same but at the same time, they could’ve gotten a lot worse, especially since I haven’t been serious about my fitness this past year. And also, at least I didn’t go back to where I started when I did my first weigh-in/measurements, that would’ve been bad lol sooo i’ll take staying the same (for now).. ready to see these numbers drop!

The New Plan.

  • Workout 5-7 days a week. My goal is every day, but I know that is very hard to commit to so I need to be realistic.
  • ONLY drink water.
  • Alcohol is the only exception, but only once or twice a week. (NO BEER)
  • LIMIT CARBS! If I MUST eat carbs, they must be whole grains.
  • Cardio workouts must be for at least 30 minutes.
  • One vegan day a week.
  • ONLY EAT UNTIL I’M FULL. Not stuffed, not “satisfied” but when I have had enough to fuel my body, not my desires or mind.
  • Try to eat SMALL meals/snacks every 2-3 hours to keep my metabolism up.
  • AT LEAST 2 servings of fruits or vegetables a day.

I think this is a good starting plan for me. If anyone else has any ideas feel free to write them in my ask box/reply to this post!

I’m back.

For real this time. This semester I slacked a bit…. okay, a lot. I got too caught up in school and shit that was going on in my life that I didn’t have time to eat healthy or workout as much as I’d hoped. I drank a lot. And I’m seeing the results of it now and I’m not happy. At all. With a lot of things in my life. So I feel that working out and getting back on my game, I can feel a lot better about myself and everything else in my life. I also have an important event happening on February 11th and I’d love to look better than before for it as I get a fresh new start on life.

With that being said, I just did the first of many workouts to come. Elliptical. 37 minutes. 470 calories. I feel good, much better than I did earlier today, and its a good start.

haven’t updated this in AGES!

but i’m still here! i’ve always been on and off with my weightloss journey because i get fed up and stuff but somehow by doing this i’ve managed to lose 10 pounds since last year! and i’m not stopping now!

i currently weigh 158.4 pounds… last year at this time i weighed 169! i’m so proud of myself and am hoping to lose even more before summer :)

how have i done it? i’ve started eating extremely healthy - much different than i ever have. and i’ve recently started working out again and incorporating daily exercise into my life whether it’s just walking dogs or running 3 miles.

i’ve also learned to not totally deprive myself of the stuff i want. it makes it easier, i just can’t over do it!

These are awesome for working the inner thigh…which is a trouble area for most! Do 20 reps on each leg every day, and you’ll see great improvement in no time!!

UPDATES!

Okay so I haven’t been spending as much time on here as i’d like (i’m on my other tumblr a lot, as well as myfitnesspal) however I do feel that this is a good tool in helping me lose weight so i’m gonna get on as much as possible!

I haven’t been posting my intake on here lately. I figure it’s on myfitnesspal so if anyone really wants to see it they can just add me on there (perfectionxforever). I’ll only really post it here if I have time or have something I wanna say about what I ate.

I lost a lot of weight within a week last week, which was awesome, however I decided to switch up my exercise plan this week to avoid a plateau and to always keep my body guessing.. I did a HIIT exercise on Tuesday and OH MY GOD hands down that was one of the hardest workouts I ever did. I really didn’t think it’d be so hard but it was! Even as an athlete I can tell you that it kicked my butt! hahah I only did 3 out of the 4 segments (but I did them twice as you’re supposed to). Needless to say, I told myself I was gonna weight train the next day (Wednesday) however I was SOO sore and tired that I couldn’t even move. I figured since it was my first time doing that workout it’d be better for me to let my body rest.

Hopefully I will get around to do it again tonight though! As horrible as it was I know they say it’s how you maximize fat loss.. guess we will see when I do my weigh-in on Monday though. If not, it’s back to the elliptical. haha!

I ate horrible yesterday, however today I’m doing MUCH better! Very proud :) I’m just worried for this weekend because I’m going to a club on Friday and a house party on Saturday which means I will be drinking.. it will be easy for me to get low-cal mixed drinks at the club but I’m afraid I’m gonna resort to beer at the party on Saturday :/ hopefully it doesn’t make me gain TOO much.. and maybe i’ll get to exercise on Sunday (there’s a dog walk in my town so hopefully I will make it there!).
